At Casa de Emdeko
Casa de Emdeko #138
This two-bedroom oceanfront Kona condo on Hawaii’s Big Island is simply paradise. Casa de Emdeko is a lush, sun-drenched escape with breathtaking views, where families have been coming for generations to make memories together, find island adventures and recharge by taking in the astounding beauty and serenity of Hawaii.
Casa was my grandmother Alice’s Kona paradise. More than anything, she loved to share her lanai with friends and watch the sun set over the Pacific each evening. Alice’s friends would come back with their families year after year. And they would tell other friends — and the circle of Casa de Emdeko Ohana would expand.
Casa #138 was well loved, but had gotten a bit tired after so many years of fun. So we decided to renovate. We recently finished a complete Kona paradise condo remodel — there’s a gorgeous new kitchen, beautifully tiled bathrooms with walk-in rain showers, dark Hawaiian koa floors in new airy and open dining and living rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out on the ocean, sand beach sunning area, pools and palm trees. Returning friends or first time guests will immediately see what makes this Kona vacation rental so special.
Here’s more detail about the condo:
Casa de Emdeko #138 is a two-bedroom condo. Each bedroom offers a new bed with deluxe comfort mattresses. The condo can sleep up to six people, with a new pull-out sofa bed in the living room. There are closets and dressers so you can unpack and organize. A nightstand with lamp is perfect for reading at night while the Big Island breeze whispers through your room. A king bedroom offers an en-suite bathroom with tub, walk-in rain shower and double sink. The queen bedroom is just across the hall from a second new bathroom with walk-in rain shower. Both bathrooms are completely remodeled with modern touches from the faucets to rich wood drawers and a cool tile floor. The ultimate in luxury.
The in-condo washer and dryer are great for cleaning off all that mountain biking mud!
We completely redid the entire kitchen, too. Here you’ll find all the tools you’ll need to serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Granite countertops, wooden cabinets, black stainless refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and microwave round out the kitchen’s amenities. And, of course, a coffee maker for that famous Kona coffee, along with everything else you’ll need to make great meals to enjoy with an ocean view. And looking out on that gorgeous ocean while you’re cooking is one of the best parts.
Oceanfront dining views are not just for fancy restaurants. Casa de Emdeko 138 has a million-dollar view with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Pacific and the Casa gardens and pools. A Hawaiian wood table seats six, and an overhead ceiling fan keeps a gentle breeze flowing through. There’s also newly installed air conditioning, if needed.
The lanai is what makes Casa de Emdeko truly special. This area is worth your entire trip to Hawaii. There are panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and whales and dolphins in season. Sunbathe on the adjacent sand beach sunning area or relax on the lanai lounge chairs and take an afternoon nap. With a patio table providing additional seating, it’s the perfect place for outdoor meals, or to enjoy an after-dinner beverage with your family, friends and loved ones, while watching the sun set. That’s been an evening tradition at Casa de Emdeko #138 for five decades. Never miss the sunset!
Like the rest of the condo, we remodeled the living room as well, adding two new Hawaiian style couches, including a sofa bed, dark-wood coffee and lamp tables, a new flat-screen TV and more. It’s a great place to relax after a day of snorkeling, mountain biking, exploring, or, well, relaxing. There’s free WiFi and cable in the condo for all guests to enjoy.
A Coastal Gem
Casa de Emdeko has been described as “the crown jewel of the Kona coast.” Its great location offers a base to explore. The wonderful Kona downtown is less than two miles away. Adventurous types enjoy snorkeling at Kealakekua Bay, the National Historical Park of Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau, and of course, some of the world’s most beautiful beaches.
